Our service at Axmouth on 9 July celebrated Sea Sunday, beginning at Coronation Corner then we walking to church for Communion.
Our vicar Nicky writes:
This is a special opportunity for us to remember and say prayers for all those who work at sea and make sure we have all we need. They often face dangerous and lonely conditions; some don’t see their families for months at a time. We are a seaside parish and so we give thanks and pray for our local fishermen in all they do for us.
It is also a day when we can give thanks for the enjoyment the sea can bring for people who visit us on holiday. We think about sunny days, ice cream and swimming. We thank God for the wonder of creation!
