Pentecost Worship at Axmouth

We gathered for worship to mark the fulfilment of Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit after he had ascended into heaven.

Elisabeth led our worship, Jeannie read the passage John 15:26-27, 16:4-15 and Iain spoke on it.  Derek then led the intercessions and Harry accompanied our worship on the organ.

Sunday 13 May

Today we marked the period between the Ascension of Jesus and the promised coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, during which the disciples spent the time in prayer.

Hildegard read and Roger spoke on Jesus’ final prayer for his disciples before the Crucifixion, as recorded in John 17:6-19

Derek led the intercessions while Terry led the service and presided at Holy Communion.

The church was still beautifully decorated with flowers from Sue and Roger’s wedding yesterday and we were delighted that the happy couple were able to join us for our worship before embarking on honeymoon.
